I’ve heard a few people talking about the Zodiac Age recently, some saying it’s about time and others saying it’s utter nonsense. The thing is, it’s actually a very interesting concept in the gaming world. The Zodiac Age, or TA, is a concept that was created by Japanese developers that claim to predict when a player is going to be good at a particular game. The idea is that the first game you play in a new console (or if you’ve got a lot of PS2 games), will tell you the approximate time frame that you need to be playing to be good at future games in the TA. The idea has caught the imagination of some people. Some say it’s rubbish, while others say it’s plain silly

The Zodiac Age is a deck building game in the vein of the popular Ascension and Lords of Waterdeep, but with a horror-themed spin. The Zodiac Age takes place in the 1920s, and features the 12 signs of the Zodiac, each with their own unique signifier and totem animal, as well as special abilities. Players are agents of the House of the 8 Dragons, and must use the powers of their sign to aid them in their fight against the cult of the Black Goat, who seek to take over the world.

In the year 20XX, it’s up to you to decide the nature of your life! Do you want to be a passionate game developer, an aspiring fashion designer, an adventurer or a hotshot sports star? It’s your choice! When you sign up for this competition, you will be given a unique Zodiac Age and a list of tasks. You can only be one of those professions for a few days, but after that, you can choose another in the quest to one of the most distinguished careers in the world.

While not as intimidating as other games’ berserker weapons, the axes in Final Fantasy XII serve a more modest purpose as a one-handed option for those who select the Foebreaker profession.

While these common weapons don’t play any special roles in this game, they’re nevertheless worth considering above their hammer equivalents.

As you can see, hammers have a small advantage in terms of combo rates, while axes strike quicker and have a slight advantage in terms of dodge rates.

Of course, preference has a role in the decision.

But if you really want to tell me which one is the greatest, let’s talk about it.

Slasher is number five.

I’m not going to lie to you:

Axes in Final Fantasy XII are fairly simple.

Except for their availability, none of them offer exceptional qualities or grounds for me to suggest them above others.

Having said that, all axes are worth consideration since they perform the job just as well as any other.

For example, the Slasher is accessible as soon as Jahara. And, given the other items for sale by the Jahara shopkeeper, it’s a very well-placed upgrade if you’re in need of one.

How to Get It: Buy it at Jahara or discover it in a chest after the rain at Giza Plains – Gizas North Bank.

4. Hammerhead shark

The Hammerhead is a huge improvement over the Slasher, yet it doesn’t take you much farther into the narrative.

Plus, if you’re willing to put in a little effort, you can acquire this weapon early enough to make certain battles unnecessary.

How to Get It: After completing the Tomb of Raithwall, you’ll have access to two side quests that will unlock the Yoma region of the Estersand, where you’ll discover this in a chest. Otherwise, you may acquire it from a chest in the Stilshrine of Miriam – Walk of Reason or purchase it when you return from the Stilshrine at Mt. Bur-Omisace.

Francisca is number three.

The Francisca is a somewhat better axe than the Hammerhead.

It only makes the list if you don’t go out of your way to get the Hammerhead via those side missions – which, in my view, is fair.

Picking up the Francisca will get you through till you reach the next item on this list (the fantastic Greataxe).

How to Get It: Look for it along the Phon Coast – Limatra Hills or purchase it from a seller at the Phon Coast.

Greataxe No. 2

The Greataxe is a powerful assault weapon that may be purchased.

It’s also a wise investment, since it’s one of the most powerful weapons available in the game.

How to Get It: Purchase it after the Treaty-Blade at Balfonheim Port, or find it near the Ridorana Cataract – Colosseum.

1. Axe of the Golden

The Golden Axe may not be the ultimate weapon, and I understand that this is a letdown for axe fans.

Nonetheless, it is an excellent weapon.

Its most redeeming feature is that it can be obtained in a variety of ways, and it’s also extremely attractive to look at.

If you find yourself at the Necrohol of Nabudis – Cloister of Reason, you’ll get a guaranteed chest drop. If you have 2 Electrums, 2 Broken Greataxes, and 1 Mardu Halcyon, you can get it in the bazaar as well.

For those who don’t mind the Cerobi Steppe, it’s also accessible from a chest with a Diamond Armlet equipped at The Terraced Bank.
