Strago is a version of the Blue Mage in Final Fantasy 6.

If you’re familiar with the scroll from other FF games, blue mages get their special abilities from the monsters in the world.

Strago has a total of 24 lores he can learn – and some are better than others.

In this list, I will share with you the best lores you can get for Strago, including what they do and how to get them.

10. White wind

Restores the HP of all allies by an amount equal to the caster’s current HP.

I’ve got it: Kurlax, Dark Force, Kamui, Dama, Magic Dragon, Marchosias, Neslug, Beeper, Sprinter, Storm Dragon (first), Vector Lifos, Venobennu

Here at the bottom of the standings we have a white wind, and frankly, it almost didn’t make the top 10.

He has a decent Lora in his heart, which heals the entire group at Stroigo’s HP level.

The downside, however, is that the spell becomes less effective if Strago is damaged, and it costs more than a normal Curaga to cast.

But with some smart Esper and Relic choices, you can increase his HP and defense, making him a healing tank.

Essentially, you can use Strago to heal and upgrade your team, while the rest of the team focuses on defeating enemies.

9. Mighty Guard

Protect, and Shell protects all the allies.

I’ve got it: Dark Behemoth, Guardian (Kefka Tower), Land Ray, Inverter.

I was quite dismissive of this Laura at first.

It’s worth 80 MP to lower the defense and shield! But then… I did a little math.

The cost of the defense is 12 MP and that of the shell is 15 MP, and both can only be spoken to one person at a time.

It takes a total of 8 turns to cast both spells for the entire game, costing over 100 MP!

Or you can use Powerful Guard and take out the entire group in one turn. This really comes in handy against tough bosses that can also remove your buffs. A huge time saver when setting up!

8. Bad breath

Spits a foul breath that inflicts various ills on enemies.

I’ve got it: The dark force, the great Marlborough, the Marlborough menace.

Marlborough’s iconic gift (anyone else like how they did that?) is back in FF6.

Bad breath may only have one enemy, but it is the cause of many debilitating ailments:
Blind, poison, devil, confusion, sleep and silence.

The cost of being a member of Parliament is not very high either. This makes him an ideal softener for strong opponents.

If you use Strago as a support member, once the group is upgraded you can switch to hindering the enemy and destroying them from within!

7. Registration

Emits sound waves with a special frequency that halves the level of the opponent.

I’ve got it: Chaser, Crawler, Dark Force, Figaro the Lizard, Gamma, Gilgamesh, Kefka (Sealed Gate), Lizard, Metal Hitman, Omega Weapon, Sputnik

This is a Laura I love in so many ways!

This lowers the target’s level and stats, making it much easier.

The only obstacle is that if the opponent is immune to death, he is not affected by Discord.

But if you have access to the death spell, you might ask why not use it?

Well, to get better equipment, you’ll have to steal….. and halving your opponent’s level will quickly increase your steal rate against him!

6. Lv ? Saints

Throw Holy at enemies whose level is divisible by the last digit of the group’s current spike count.

I’ve got it: Seductive Rider, Dark Power, Dullahan, Innocent, Emperor Dragon, Magic Dragon, Omega Weapon, Red Dragon (first).

This Laura beats a holy on all opponents whose level is divided by the last digit of your money total – that way you can try to save them all at once!

Holy is a powerful spell that can take out your enemies with little effort if hit.

Lora also has a low MP price of 50.

If this spell wasn’t targeted, it would be at the top of this list.

5. Tsunami

Flood the enemies with a powerful tidal wave.

I’ve got it: Blue Dragon (both), Dark Force, Enuo, Kaiser Dragon, Leviathan, Master Tonberry, Weapon Omega, Ultima Buster.

Maybe he’s not as powerful as the Lion? Holy, but he defeats all enemies, regardless of their level.

The element of water is also very rare, making Strago one of the few reliable ways to access it.

Plus, Tsunami is very reasonably priced at only 30 MP, so you can save your MP when it counts!

4. Quasar

Summons space debris that deals massive damage to all enemies.

I’ve got it: Dark Force, Gilgamesh, Goddess.

It is often compared to Meteor. And while it doesn’t have the amazing defense properties of Meteorite, it’s cheaper and has higher base damage.

Non-elemental damage is also still useful.

So you don’t have to worry about absorption or resistance!

3. Breath of Aqua

Throws enemies into a stream of bubbles that damage both wind and water.

I’ve got it: First experience with commissioning

Breath of Aqua is now one of the starter lores that Strago brings, and it’s awesome!

Low MP cost, high damage, and it gives elementary water and wind damage.

If you only want to focus on Strago as a supporting character, you can focus on gradually gaining more lore and using Breath of Aqua as a damage transaction option.

Water and wind are two rare elements, and wind in particular is effective against many enemies.

2. Aero

Creates a crushing gravity vortex around enemies.

I’ve got it: Dark Force, Demon, Gilgamesh, Gorgimera, Kaiser Dragon, Magic Dragon, Marcosias, Omega Weapon, Sprinter, Storm Dragon (both), Tyrannosaurus, Vasegiatta.

Speaking of wind elements: It is the most powerful attack of its kind.

For the low MP price, it’s hard to beat all the enemies. I’d say Aero is just one of Strago’s best offensive options.

It can be hard to get it out of Dragon Storm, but if you can, you can get it early enough in World of Ruin.

And this Laura can take you through much of the game until you get what I think is the most powerful Laura Strago.

1. Grand Delta

Creates a triangular energy field that deals massive damage to all enemies.

I’ve got it: Hidon, Omega Guns.

If Quasar was considered the meteor of Lore, it would be Ultima!

There’s not as much damage as in Ultima. But it’s not elementary, and it will catch on later.

This allows Strago to do powerful magic damage, very useful if you’re having trouble getting Ultima or if Strago just needs to do a lot of damage.
