Hood: Outlaws and Legends is a game developed by “Codeglue” with an indie budget. It’s an open world, third person shooting game with an interesting twist on the storyline. It’s a very addictive game, and offers a lot of replay value, but there are some minor issues. When you start the game, you can choose one of several characters to play as. Hood: Outlaws and Legends is an action-packed role-playing game developed by Contagious Games. The game is set in a world where the protagonist’s brother is killed by the game’s main villain, after he is framed for a crime he didn’t commit. The game’s protagonist then goes on a quest to clear his name and avenge his brother’s death. The game is a hack ‘n’ slash game with role-playing elements, set against a western backdrop. The game’s battle system is similar to the one seen in a 3D Zelda game, where the player must attack enemies from all sides. (This was a really short game.)

In this game, you play the role of a rookie cop who has just been assigned to a rundown section of New York City, where gang violence and drugs are rampant. You are joined by your partner, who is an ex-marine, as you set out to clean up the streets. This game is an open world action-adventure game, meaning that there are no levels or chapter segments, like you’d typically see in a game like Grand Theft Auto. The game has a complex story with multiple endings, and there are multiple ways to approach the game. You are encouraged to explore the city, and you can pick and choose which missions you want to complete in any order.

I’m always excited when a developer announces a brand new approach to online co-op gaming. Few deviate from the tried-and-true multiplayer core components, so if something else is planned, it’s worth paying attention to. Cap: Outlaws and Legends is a 4v4 PvPvE game in which two teams compete to steal a chest from a group of enemies controlled by an artificial intelligence. Think of the hunt: Confronting a dark interpretation of Robin Hood. Let’s see if this idea finally bears fruit. word-image-2923 No, it’s not Assassin’s Creed. There’s no real plot here. They play a group of bandits inspired by Robin Hood, Lady Marion, etc., in a darker version of the fairy tale we all know and love. Sure, the fact that clones of every character appear en masse during a game, but hey, it’s a multiplayer game, the story should never be the focus. Each game is simple at first glance. You must first get the key from the sheriff, then open the safe with that key and bring the safe to the location. Whoever gets there first, wins the game. It’s simple, isn’t it? Yes, that’s true, but the problem is that it doesn’t matter who rolls bags and opens safes: Only the loot from the chests counts when it comes to who wins the game and who does not. This means that the gameplay can be easily exploited by having the team do all the dirty work and ambush you at the last minute. There are four classes you can play in. The Ranger (aka Robin Hood) can kill enemies from a distance and use arrows on a string to clear a path for your team. Assassin (aka Lady Marion) is faster and stealthier. Petit Jean is a slow rider who can withstand more attacks and keep the door open for the team. Finally, there is the Mystic, a support class that focuses more on healing allies and marking enemies. You can have any combination of these classes. If you want a team of four Robin Hoods, so be it. Four bullies? Let’s go. This allows for a flexible strategy, but also means that any semblance of balance is set aside. At first, it seems great to use stealth characters, but the natural progression of each game eventually leads you into mêlée battles, and the mêlée mechanics aren’t refined enough to handle that style of play. Not to mention the insane amount of delay. word-image-2924 It is very important that you remain loyal to your team. Finding the chest is such an agony of the game. It often becomes 10-15 minutes where both teams are fighting to win. All strategy is a thing of the past here, as you and the opposing team will constantly battle it out until one team is victorious and has completed the final stages of the winch. If you have enough time and take respawn points all over the map before attacking the enemy team in a final attack, you can win. Personally, I don’t like the loot phase, as it feels completely unfinished and leads more to an exercise in frustration than the exciting heist game it should be. Fortunately, losing a game doesn’t mean you’re empty-handed. What matters is the performance of your team. By killing enemies and guards and completing tasks, you’ll get lots of gold that you can use in the camp. So if your team gets 90% of the final loot and the win goes to the other team, you still won’t walk away with a large portion of the loot. What Hood is good at is the teamwork that makes the heist successful. A good team can be creative in its strategy, but it also needs to know what the opponent is doing so it can adapt. Besides the team of enemies, there are also artificial intelligence controlled enemies that you have to deal with. Guards are dumb meat, with poor vision and good reflexes. However, if they get you, new guards will appear all over the map and the enemy team will know where you are. Finally, there is the sheriff, an opponent of Mr. Type. X, who will destroy you in a heartbeat if he gets a hold of you. You can’t kill it, but you can stun it for about a minute. The artificial intelligence is just terrible, often randomly ignoring players while clinging to others. word-image-2925 Less or more loud…. Too bad it always ends in a fight. Matching up in Hood is very difficult. Sometimes it takes forever to build up a full lobby. And sometimes you get thrown into a game that’s almost finished. Also, there is no penalty for those who drop out in the middle of the game, putting all those who are still trying to finish the game in great danger. Thanks to these problems and the incredible lack of content on day one (only five maps and a few modes), within a few hours you’ll see (and get tired of) everything the game has to offer. At its best (when you’re sneaking around a fort with your team and keeping an eye on your opponent), Hood can be fantastic. Creating distractions and taking out guards one by one is not pretty, but it also works very well against players. It’s frustrating that both teams end up not caring about stealth and end rounds with noisy, unnecessary melee, and when you consider how poor the combat mechanics are in this game, you can imagine how frustrating any online match will end up being. As for the graphics, some parts of Hood look pretty good, especially when the game adds progressively darker visuals based on the source material. His art direction is really great. However, I was disappointed by how ugly the game looked on the Xbox One X, with an overall washed out presentation and very unpolished textures. word-image-2926 The sheriff will give you this. Cap: Outlaws and Legends has potential in terms of the concept of theft-oriented team play. This is a non-negotiable point. The gameplay issues and the ease with which it can be exploited, along with the general feeling that it won’t be able to sustain its community for long, make it hard to recommend, though I hope the developers will continue to support it over time.

Playing the Xbox One X version of Hood was disappointing. It looked very rough, although the general direction of the art was nice. Hood has exciting gameplay that makes you feel like a stealthy, badass player. Unfortunately, the rules can be easily abused.
Good sound design, music and sound effects. The game has potential with its concept, but the gameplay loop and exploitation mechanics make it quite boring after a while.
