MinecraftLaptop buying guide

To help you find the best Minecraft laptop that delivers the incredible Minecraft gaming experience, here’s a comprehensive buying guide that explains the requirements for Minecraft laptops. This allows you to choose the best laptop (or PC/desktop) to meet your gaming needs, whether it’s the latest high-end laptop that can run a variety of mods and shaders, or an older, refurbished low-tech model that can run Minecraft in its simplest version.

It’s recommended: Double or square core, minimum 3 GHz.

For example, at least an 8th generation Intel Core. This is the second generation (Core i3 1050G1/ 8145U/ 10100U/ 8310U, Core i5 8250U/ 8265U/ 10210U) as in Acer Aspire 5 or AMD Ryzen (Ryzen 3 3200U, Ryzen 5 3500U/ 4500U) as in ASUS VivoBook 15.

The best part:  ++4 GHz processor

For example, at least H/ HQ/ K Intel Core 7th generation. (Core i5 8300H/ 9300H/ 10300H, Core i7 8750H/ 9750H/ 10750H) or AMD Ryzen H (Ryzen 5 3550H/ 4600H, Ryzen 7 3750H/ 4800HS).

Modified Minecraft : 7th, 8th or 9th generation processor

The speed of your processor determines how fast your laptop can process the game and how efficiently it can perform various operations during the game.

However, Minecraft relies heavily on the CPU instead of the GPU, so nowadays you can play it on almost any system, because the CPU processes the graphics and the graphics card only draws what the CPU sends.

Don’t forget that Minecraft runs mainly on a single kernel, which means you must give priority to direct speed over the number of kernels.

Corerelated to clock frequency

Because Minecraft is CPU related, it usually does not work well with multithreading, i.e. it does not use many cores. Although later versions of Minecraft, starting with version 1.7.10, use more than one wire and download up to four wires to other wires, processing a single wire is still the biggest performance factor.

Double core vs. quadruple core

The dual-core Ryzen 3 and Intel Core i3 processors work with Minecraft, even with the best Minecraft models, no problem, but the quad-core is even better when it comes to multitasking. Six and eight cores are not required unless you plan to run complex programs such as video editors. In this case it is preferable to use your laptop for the animations.

AMD vs. Intel

Intel processors are generally more powerful (and more popular), but AMD processors are much more affordable, even in laptops with special graphics processors. However, they are not so easy to find, especially the AMD Ryzen 9 HS 4800, which features cooling and design factors that offer the best performance.

Graphics card

It’s recommended: NVIDIA MX (dedicated) or Intel HD 5th or 6th generation or AMD Radeon RX (integrated)

For example, Intel 520/ 520HD, AMD RX5/ RX7/RX9 to give you 70 frames per second + improved world at normal rendering distance and maximum graphics (without shaders), or NVIDIA MX 150/ 250/ 1050 to give you 80 to 100 frames per second at medium to high settings (with delayed internal shaders).

Pay attention: All Intel GPUs are integrated graphics processors, such as in the Lenovo IdeaPad 3.

The best part: AMD Radeon R5 series or NVIDIA RTX (high-end) or NVIDIA Ti (mid-range).

For example, NVIDIA 2060/ 2070RTX for the best Minecraft game at the highest settings while running various other programs and applications, or NVIDIA 1050/ 1060/ 1660Ti for 50-60 frames per second in full screen, even with heavy mods and shaders.

Modified and shaded mining vehicles: marked by NVIDIA 970GTX, 1070, 1080 or more.

A graphics card determines a laptop’s playback performance, which means a better GPU provides smoother overall performance, especially for gaming and streaming content.

Fortunately, Minecraft uses relatively simple graphics, but you still need to invest in a high quality GPU (even a built-in GPU), especially if you are playing a later version of Minecraft from 1.10+, which places a significant burden on the CPU of the graphics card. The GPU becomes even more important if you plan to use high settings, shaders and high-resolution textures.

Please note that all game settings affect the frame rate. These include graphics, screen sizes, render distance, textures, lighting and even the number of installed plug-ins and modes. This means you have to find a balance between good gameplay and great effects to keep up with the graphics.

Integration vs. Specific GPU

An embedded GPU is a GPU that exists on a CPU, of which the CPU reserves a small part for graphics needs. The GPU also shares memory with the CPU, which means it takes up a significant portion of your total physical memory, resulting in reduced performance.

However, integrated GPUs can also work with Minecraft, maintaining frame rates and some performance issues from time to time, especially if you increase settings or add heavy mods and shaders.

On the other hand, the special GPU is essentially a special graphics performance in the form of an expansion card connected to the notebook’s motherboard via a PCIe slot. This reduces the load on the graphic instructions, allowing them to be processed and executed quickly. The special GPU will also have its own memory or vRAM.

Therefore, an older and cheaper dedicated GPU is much better than the latest integrated GPU. A disadvantage, however, is that special GPUs are more expensive and consume more power while generating more heat.

If you’re a Minecraft gamer, NVIDIA GeForce and AMD Radeon graphics cards allow you to maximize your game settings and play with all Minecraft models, although AMD cards are much cheaper, while RTX cards are more powerful for GPU-intensive games such as Call of Duty.

But AMD video cards are usually installed on desktop computers, and even laptops with AMD video processors (such as MacBooks) are not very powerful or cheap. Anyway, another problem you may encounter with AMD cards is a number of errors due to shaders.

It’s recommended: At least 4 GB or 8 GB for multitasking

For example, 1/2GB of dedicated RAM for Minecraft works in single and multiplayer mode without adding game features, 4GB as in ASUS ImagineBook is a reasonable amount to play Minecraft without running any other program, and 8GB allows you to perform multitasking tasks.

The best part: 12 GB RAM or more

For example, 12 GB RAM (assigned JVM) gives you a significant advantage with pre-installed components (a horizontally expandable software pump system) and virtually no latency problems. This is ideal for vanilla games, which require about 300 MB of RAM.

Changed mine clearance: 12-16 GB RAM

For example, 8 GB RAM is mandatory for texture and mod packages, 12 GB RAM is better for new mod packages and version 1.10.2 Minecraft, more RAM if you want to use a lot of mods and shaders that need 1 GB RAM or more.

Pay attention: RAM with expansion slots is required for future upgrades.

RAM is usually stored in memory. It stores all the files needed to run the game, including shaders and mod packs. All this is transferred from the hard drive to the memory so that the processor can process these files without loss of speed or performance.

RAM is also important to eliminate delays and the ability to add shaders and mods without too many problems.

As far as RAM speed is concerned, only DDR4 memory sticks are currently available, just like the fourth generation of RAM. If you ever see old DDR3 memory cards on low-end laptops and used computers, choose DDR4 because it’s much smoother and faster.

Recommended: at least 1 GB hard drive or SSD

For example, a 1 GB hard drive is technically sufficient to store all your Minecraft files, including hundreds of shaders and trendy packages, but a 1 GB SSD hard drive ensures that everything loads faster, even on an old computer or laptop.

The best part: 4 GB SSD or more

For example, a 4GB SSD is enough if you want to run Minecraft and other games in a split second instead of waiting for long buffers. But if you need the best possible SSD for all other complex games and programs, a 1TB NVMe PCIe SSD is ideal.

The reality is that all relatively modern computers or laptops have enough space to store and run all your Minecraft files and a decent number of shaders and mods. However, the SSD is much better than a hard drive, so it is better to invest in it.

Recommended: any laptop or desktop monitor with a bandwidth of 60 frames per second

For example, if you want to play the vanilla version of Minecraft without fancy graphics, any modern laptop or PC can show you 60 frames per second on screen by pressing the refresh button in the 60 frames per second settings.

The best part: Laptop or desktop computer display with 120 Hz or 240 Hz

For example, a monitor with a 120 Hz refresh rate can match your setting, which produces 120 fps, and the same goes for a 240 Hz monitor because you can see on the screen, while a 60 Hz monitor can only display 60 fps, even with a 120 fps setting.

There are two things to keep in mind when viewing: the size of the screen and the refresh rate. As for the size of the screen, the general rule of thumb is the following: the bigger the screen, the better the gameplay, because it makes the game more exciting and also makes it possible to see things at eye level without using elevators or platforms.

In terms of refresh rate, all modern screens have a reasonable refresh rate, so you can watch the game with pleasant graphics and transitions, not to mention the high resolution and bright color palette, so you can really enjoy the game. That’s true for Vanilla Minecraft at least, but once you play with great settings and use lots of shaders, you’ll need the best on-screen refresh rate.

Mincoft for desktop needs

If you are looking for a computer for Minecraft, you should consider the processor and connections when making your decision. Note that other things, such as the specifications for RAM, memory, display and GPU, are largely what you need for your laptop.

Recommended: any AMD processor

For example 5 3600 extra drams or 3600 extra drams if you want a service within budget.

The best part: Intel Core i5-4210U or AMD Ryzen analog

For example, the Intel Core i5 is a dual-core processor with GT 840M and hyperthreading and a clock speed of 1.7-2.4 GHz to run Minecraft at high settings.

Nowadays, AMD processors are much better than Intel processors when it comes to desktop computers, especially because AMD processors offer high clock speeds of one hour, as in the Ryzen series. In fact, the AMD processor almost always guarantees better performance, connectivity and overclocking capabilities at any price.

The only time you think of an Intel processor is when you need tremendous power and great gaming performance, and even then you have to be willing to pay a lot of money.

Older processors

Older generation AMD and Intel processors are pretty good if you’re not particularly interested in running Minecraft in turbo mode, especially since the older generations aren’t really that old and still very powerful. However, if you have a limited budget and are considering buying an older processor, it is important that you take these tips into account so that you don’t waste your money:

  • Choose AMD 7xxxxP or 8xxxxP processors or Intel 4xxx, 5xxxx or 6xxxx processors.
  • Always choose a 64-bit processor, not a 32-bit processor, because it does not have enough RAM to run 1.10.2 Minecraft with the Mod packages at the same time as your operating system.
  • Avoid low voltage versions such as microprocessors, AMD E1 and E2, Intel Celeron and Atom, M or Y processors; also avoid anything more than six years old, such as third-generation Intel processors. A generation like Ivy Bridge, which is not supported by Windows 10.
  • If the name of the CPU is confusing and you want to compare the speed and performance of the CPU with another model, Google search will give you accurate information, especially if you are looking for the chip position for the CPU benchmark.

The beauty of the old processors is that many laptops and desktops with such processors cost less than $200 (even for big brands) and can even work up to 4 GHz.

There are also older and more expensive CPUs that Minecraft can run on much higher settings, although they are hard to find and rarely contain a special GPU. In this case it is much better to choose a modern laptop for the same price.

Connection monitoring

The fact is that it is a bit difficult to buy a desktop monitor to play Minecraft, because you have to take care of the ports on your GPU, or more specifically, the ability to update the rate.

For example, if the refresh rate of your GPU or monitor is a bit low, the on-screen frames per second will effectively be limited, even if you have a 100 Hz monitor and an output setting of 100 frames per second.

If you have DisplayPort 1.4 and HDMI 1.4 but use a 120 Hz display, you must always use DisplayPort and not HDMI to get the full 120 Hz refresh rate, not 60 Hz.

How to optimise mining vehicles

If you want to optimize your gameplay, here are some of the best and most useful tips you can follow, recommended by serious and experienced Minecraft players:

Background requests

Games usually take up a lot of space on the computer. It can be a dependence on a heavy processor or GPU. In any case, playing a decent game on your laptop will slow down the speed if you run another program or application while playing. The amount of power and speed reduction depends on the quality of your equipment.

This does not mean that you need to invest in high-end processors, graphics cards and SSDs. Sometimes it’s enough to get close to unnecessary applications and processes during the game.

Hardware optimization

If you like fashion packs and shaders, you should seriously consider using Magic Launcher for Minecraft, because it allows you to allocate more RAM to Java, which means that using mods will be much easier.

If you want to optimize the framerates, the most popular software or script you can use is OptiFine, which has many advantages when it comes to expanding multi-core usage, although Minecraft is mainly single-wire.

If you have problems with Minecraft, especially in terms of latency, even though you can run Crysis on much higher settings, these problems are probably caused by Java. You can try to solve the problem by using the correct version of Java or by updating your current version.

Protection against viruses

If you’re going to download a lot of mods and shaders, make sure you have a reliable antivirus program so that you can’t accidentally download the virus and damage all the files and programs on your laptop, whether they’re Minecraft related or not.

Finding the best laptop for Minecraft means knowing exactly what the game and its version requires, the number and quality of mods and shaders you use, and then looking for the right laptop that meets those requirements and fits your budget.
